Fleetphoto LogoPrincess Noor destroys the Chandelier and the competition in the $200,000 Chandelier stakes at Santa Anita to remain undefeated in three career starts.

The Not This Time filly out of the stakes winning Dam Sheza Smoke Show by the multi millionaire Wilko, broke slowly from the rail, while being boxed in during the first half mile. Veteran jockey Victor Espinoza made his move when he angled out Princess Noor to the three path with 6 furlongs remaining before taking a commanding lead as she galloped home on her own with no urging to win by 8 1/4 convincing lengths.

Victor Espinoza later said that this is the best filly he has ever ridden. The daughter of leading Freshman sire Not This Time has produced 11 winners out of 28 starters from his 90 foals. Trainer Bob Baffert has this talented filly primed and ready for the Juvenile fillies Breeder’s Cup in Keeneland later this Fall.

I’ve been touting this precocious standout ever since the OBS Spring auction when she sizzled a quarter in :20.1and was the sales topper at 1.35M. Listed as my number one overall selection from my OBS Spring Short List, I’m very excited to report that my other top picks are doing extremely well.

I did combine my three short list auction runners into one list with updates and links to follow as they continue to succeed at the racetrack.

Princess Noor Wins the Debutante Geared Down

Princess Noor wins the Debutante geared down by jockey Victor Espinoza. Not This Time gets his 10th win of the season and his first Grade 1 stakes win in his Freshman year of 2020.

This brilliant filly had to survive an inquiry when she bore into My Girl Red at the start of the race. My Girl Red pulled up shortly after the start as she took a bad step before the quarter pole. The Sorrento stakes winner was not vanned off as she walked off on her own.

Princess Noor remains undefeated in two starts and should be headed to the Juvenile fillies Breeder’s Cup for owner Zedan Racing.

Time for the 7 furlongs was 1:23.15  as she was eased well before the wire by Espinoza after setting blistering fractions early on. Bob Baffert has another rising superstar to be reckoned with in the barn as he returns from Kentucky fresh off a victory in the 146th running of the Derby with Authentic.

This holiday weekend will be a memorable one for team Baffert as his assistant Jimmy Barnes had to be taken to the hospital with a fractured wrist caused by Thousand Words during the saddling of the Derby. Thousand Words was scratched by the stewards after flipping in the paddock at Churchill Downs.

Shortly after the victory by Authentic and Johnny Velazquez in the Derby, Authentic got spooked in the crowded winner’s circle and wiped out several people including Bob Baffert.

Princess Noor Wins Debutante

Princess Noor Faces 5 in the the Debutante Stakes

Princess Noor Faces 5 in the Debutante StakesPrincess Noor Faces 5 in the Debutante Stakes at Del Mar. The speedy daughter of leading Freshman sire Not This Time out of Sheza Smoke Show was listed as the 8-5 morning line favorite.

Coming off a stellar performance in her debut when she was never asked to run. Princess Noor will face the undefeated My Girl Red by Texas Red, winner of the Sorrento Stakes, who was made the second choice at 3-1.

Bob Baffert has this 2 year-old filly primed for for this $250,000 7 furlong Grade 1 stakes. Jockey Victor Espinoza will be back in saddle for Princess Noor’s stakes debut.

As mention in my previous post, Princess Noor was an OBS graduate that sold for $1.35 million dollars to Zedan racing when she drilled a quarter in :20.1 over the synthetic track during the under tack show in Ocala. It will be interesting to see who will saddle this speedball since Bob Baffert is in Kentucky and Assistant trainer Jimmy Barnes was taken to the hospital for a broken wrist in a freak accident as he was taking his Derby runner “Thousand Words” to the paddock at Churchill Downs.

The red hot leading sire Not This Time, is seeking his 10th win in his first crop of 2 year-olds.

Post time is 5:15 PM Pacific time scheduled for race 9 at Del Mar. Good luck to the connections and other fillies in the debutante Stakes.

Princess Noor Wins Debut in Style

Princess Noor wins debut in style at Del Mar for trainer Bob Baffert. As report earlier, Princess Noor did not disappoint in her debut after several great works. This powerful daughter of Not This Time out of Sheza Smoke Show displayed her prowess under a motionless ride by jockey Victor Espinoza.

This speedy filly gave Not This Time, a leading 7th win as a first crop Freshman sire. Purchased from OBS Spring Sale for a cool $1,350,000, she ran the fastest 1/4 in a blistering :20.1 during the under tack show, under light urging by her exercise rider in Ocala. Owned by Zedan Stables and trained Bob Baffert, this well developed filly wired the field of high priced, well-bred fillies in her debut.

The final time for the 5 1/2 furlongs was a quick 1:04.03 as Princess Noor earned an 84 Equibase speed rating in her debut. See chart below for splits and order of finish. I’ve been touting this filly since I first laid eyes on her back in mid March during the under tack show and from her walk video. A physical standout with great speed and excellent conformation, it was no surprise as she sold for a million plus for this unproven sire in his first crop of 87 juveniles.

Congratulations to the winning connections over at Zedan Stables for bringing this filly home to Del Mar.

In other notes, for those of you who have been keen enough to follow my selections from OBS, this was my third starter to race from my short list. I posted my previous debut winner Union Gables, Hip 598 by Speightstown out of Tonasah and Speeding, Hip 282 by Into Mischief, who finished third by a length on the turf at Gulftream Park.

Next week, Hip 341 Freedom Flyer, my second overall selection, makes her debut on Saturday 8-28-20 in Race 7 for trainer Simon Callaghan and to be ridden by Flavien Pratt at Del Mar. Freedom Flyer is by the red hot sire Constitution out of Rebuke.
