Runhappy colt targets $100,000 bonus at Saratoga this Saturday, August 29, 2020. First time starter “Happymac” who was purchased from the OBS Spring Sale for $800,000, makes his seasonal debut for trainer Steve Asmussen, who seems to be loaded with the best 2 year-olds this Summer.

This may be the one to win the $100,000 Runhappy giveaway bonus that Mattress Mac is offering to any Runhappy 2 year-old to win a race at either Saratoga, Churchill Downs or Del Mar this season. The speedy bay colt worked a bullet in :59.44 breezing from the starting gate in preparation for this initial start. It appears that Runhappy passed down his blazing speed and striking good looks to this firster.

Handled by the deadly combination of Asmussen and Santana, Happymac is coming into this race off a slew of brilliant works under his belt. Having workouts at Ellis Park, Churchill Downs, and now Saratoga, trainer Steve Asmussen clearly has his eyes on the $100k prize plus the $72k purse for this Maiden Special Weight first time starter.

Happymac  made my short list as my 10th overall selection from the OBS Spring 20 auction. Hip 1266 stopped the clock in :20.3 during the under tack show in Ocala. Originally pinhooked as a yearling early last year for $125k and sold again during the September Keeneland sales for $360,000, owners William Heiligbrodt, Spendthrift Farms and Madaket Stables stepped up and pulled the trigger to land this Runhappy lookalike.

Runhappy stands and nurses from his legendary stall at Claiborne Farms for a cool $25,000 stud fee. Year to date, his runners are 1 for 14, his lone winner Libertyrun, broke his maiden at Indiana Grand on July 8th, 2020.
