Del Mar MAIDEN SPECIAL WEIGHT

Purse $55,000. (Plus $16,500 – CBOIF – California Bred Owner Fund). For Maidens, Two Years Old. Weight, 120 Lbs. (Non-starters For A Claiming Price Of $40,000 Or Less In The Last 3 Starts Preferred). . Five Furlongs. (Turf)

The long awaited debut for this standout filly by the red hot sire Constitution is finally here.

Purchased from the OBS Spring Sale for $450,000, this beautiful bay filly drilled an easy quarter in :20.4 during the under tack show on June 1, 2020. Freedom Flyer is a well balanced filly that caught my eye with her overall look and balance.

Freedom Flyer is out of a Carson City Mare Rebuke, who earned nearly $100,000 in her relatively short career. Having won half of her eight starts, Rebuke earned her highest Equibase speed figure of 106 in her final start in allowance company at Calder.

Constitution is enjoying another stellar year as a Sophomore sire with his Derby leading contender Tiz The Law, who is a force to be reckoned with the first Saturday in September. Constitution is currently ranked fourth on the second year sire list with 36 winners from 96 starters, trailing only Khozan, Tapiture, and Triple Crown winner American Pharaoh.

I’m hoping to see a repeat performance like Princess Noor displayed in her debut as Freedom Flyer prepares for her initial start. This muscular filly, is coming into this race with some sharp recent workouts on the dirt.

Jockey Flavien Prat will be in the irons for the 5 furlong dash on the turf.
