Tacitus Dominates the Suburban Stakes at beautiful Belmont Park with an overpowering display of speed and class in the 134th running of this prestigious and historic race with  Hall of fame rider Johnny Velazquez in the irons.

This well bred son of Tapit out of the champion mare Closed Hatches won under a hand-ride to finish in a swift 1:59.51 for the 1 1/4 distance. Sitting third behind the early pace setter Parsimony, under slow early fractions, Tacitus (named after the Roman historian) steam rolled the competition to draw way by 8 3/4 lengths.

Congratulations to the winning connections Juddmonte Farms and Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott, who recently earned his 5,000th career win with the talented colt “Moon Over Miami” at historic Churchill downs. Tacitus has now earned $2,817,500 from his 4 wins, 3 seconds, and 2 third place finishes.

Trainer bill Mott was very relieved after the globe trotting roan colt returned from Saudi Arabia for the canceled Saudi Cup, then finishing fourth in the Oaklawn Handicap on May 2, 2020.
